Frederick Vinson was born in Louisa Kentucky January 22, 1890 in the newly built home of his father the jailer of Lawrence County. The museum chronicles his life as a young boy who made friends with the jail inmates to becoming Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court. There are also many artifacts of his legacy. The museum is open daily Monday-Saturday.

The first needle dam in the United States was completed in 1896 on the Big Sandy River, downstream from the city of Louisa, Kentucky.
